The Historical Dictionary of the Belarusian Language is worked out in the Ya.Kolas Institute of Linguistics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus accordingly to the principles of general development of the East Slavonic historical lexicography by creating historical dictionaries of the Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian languages. The dictionary comprises the information on the written monuments of the Belarusian language of the XIV-XVIII centuries. It reveals the Old-Belarusian vocabulary semantics. The illustrations taken from the written monuments retain the language graphic and orphographic peculiarities. The historical dictionary may serve as one of the most important tools to study the Belarusian language history and to reveal the peculiarities of the Belarusian as related to other Slavonic languages.
