The book is dedicated to the centenary jubilee of Vasiliy Feofilovich Kuprevich (1897--1969), the great scientist and biologist of the 20th century, who exerted great influence on the development of science. He was one of those widely educated scientists, who are fewer and fewer; as specialization of biological knowledge becomes wider. As a scientist-encyclopaedist he equally knew the principles of methodology: botany, mycology and phytopathology, virology, microbiology, edaphology, physiology and biochemistry of plants, ecology. He also came out as an evolutionary in giving an appreciation of forming relation between organisms, their contemporary state and possible tendencies of their perfection in the future. And finally as a logician and methodologist he worked out the basic principles of some new directions in biological science.

In the book, the results are presented of investigations made by researchers from the V.F. Kuprevich Institute of Experimental Botany of the National Academy of Science of Belarus for the recent years. It's a kind of report of the great scientist's apprentices and followers on the main directions of the scientific legacy.
