The collective monograph prepared in The Yanka Kupala Institute of Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus presents the fundamental investigation of literary process in Belarus in 1901--1955. In the survey articles and creative characteristics of outstanding writers are opened the national specifity of the Belarusian literature, its role and importance in a deepening of civil consciousness, upbringing the national self-consciousness, patriotism and humanism. There are shown the whole potential of the Belarusian spiritual culture in the field of word of art during the XX century, its ideal-aesthetic richness and originality.
