In the 1st volume of a collective work "The Belarusians. In 8 Vols." prepared in the K.Krapiva Institute of Study of Arts, Ethnography and Folklore of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the trades (gathering, fishery, hunting, beekeeping, timber crafts) and crafts (weaving, embroidery, blacksmith's business, woodworking, pottery, wicker-work making, leather-processing) are considered and their role and place in a life of the Belarusians is emphasized. The folk technological traditions are also analyzed, their local peculiarities are considered.
