Kinetics of wood lignin thermal decomposition. pp. 20--27.

Summary: Kinetic and activation parameters of wood lignin thermal decomposition have been determined in mesitylene (0.001--0.1 mol/l) in the temperature range from 423 to 733 K. The process has been shown to be described by an equation of the first order on an initial lignin concentration. Three basic stages of the process may be classified with time by a temperature variation. These stages arc methanolic, phenolic and solid phase formation stage. A free-radical mechanism of lignin thermolysis has been proposed and discussed. An approach developed shows promise in recycling of wood wastes.

Summary: Effect of preparing procedure parameters on the activity of a two-layer electrode system based on titanium has been investigated in a reaction of hydrogen evolution. A transport rate of hydrogen ions to platinum sites in the inner part of active layer has been shown using a combination of cyclic voltammetry measurements with quasi-static polarisation curves to be the same order of magnitude as a rate of heterogeneous process on the platinum sites.

The compositions are based on barium and strontium ferrites, magnetite and g-Fe2O3 suspended in a transformer oil and synthetic binders based on phenol-formaldehyde, epoxyacrylic and pentaphthalic resins. Influence of numerous factors such as a type and magnetic properties of the filter, a binder type. composition magnetic properties on an orientation effect of the filter in a magnetic field has been evaluated. Orientation effect was estimated using magnetorheatogical effect value.

Sorption-structural and acidic properties of co-precipitated alumina-carbonate tripoly samples. pp. 44--51.

Summary: Mixed samples of tripoly-alumina type based on Belarusian natural carbonate tripoly have been prepared by co-precipitation technique, tripoly content varying from 0 to 100%. The samples of Al2O3 (30 wt%) + tripoly (70 wt%) are characterized by a higher value of a limit sorption volume (0.27--0.28 cm3/g) as compared to the initial compounds. A calcination of this sample at 700 °C leads to a homogeneous porous sorbents having pore size of 30 A° and limit sorption volume of 0.29 cm3/g.

Micro structure of YBa2Cu3O7-s formed during thermal conversion of salt forms of tricarboxy cellulose. pp. 66--70.

Summary: YBa2Cu3O7-s micro structure prepared by a thermal solid phase conversion of YBa2Cu3-salts of tricarboxy cellulose taken in a form of individual monofibres with different filling degree of Y3+, Ba2+, Cu2+ ions in a cationite phase. A diameter of the ceramic fibre and a crystallite size have been shown to be determined by a content of Y3+, Ba2+, Cu2+ ions in the ionite phase. Using a precursor with a low filling degree (a minimal filling degree of Y3+, Ba2+, Cu2+ ions in tricarboxy cellulose phase was 0.05 mmol/g, the stoichiometry being maintained as "1--2--3") a "design" of a permanent low dimension chain has been obtained consisting of practically individual YBa2Cu3O7--s-crystallites oriented along the fibre axis.

Summary: Pd immobilized on fibrous sulfocationic-exchange resin catalyzes hexene-1 hydrogenation under mild conditions. A hydrogenation activity depends on Pd content, functional groups concentration and a cationic form of sulfocationic-exchange resin.

Acidic properties of clays activated by phosphoric acid. pp. 76--81.

Summary: Acidic properties of the activated clay have been investigated by IR-spectroscopy depending on a time of its activation by 20 % phosphoric acid and thermal treatment. Initial clay has been shown to have Lewis acidic sites only. Bronstid acidic sites appeared in the case of phosphoric acid activation, their concentration increased with the activation time. Lewis acidity predominated on the sample suface at a higher calcination temperature (500 °C).

Effect of clay ultrasonic treatment on a rate of its acidic activation. pp. 82--86.

Summary: Effect of clays ultrasonic triatment and action of surface active substances alongside with ultrasound on activation by bicomponent acidic solutions have been studied. Ultrasound has shown to decrease an activation time and to bncrease substantially a sorption capacity and specific surface of the substances obtained. Surface active substances prevent a coagulation of despersed particles, increase a degree of their dispersion and solubility. Mechanism of activation andultrasound effect has been considered and experimintal results have been discussed.

Effect of oxidation solution content on iodine dyeing of polyvinyl alcohol films. pp. 107--113.

Summary: Potassium iodide oxidation has been investigated in aqueous solutions containing (NH4)2S2O8, CuSO4, KJ, KCl and H2SO4 which are used for iodine dyeing of polyvinyl alcohol films. The reaction proceeds via mixed complexes formation between an oxidizer ((NH4)2S2O8), a catalyst (CuSO4) and iodine-ions. In the active catalytic complex a ratio of (NH4)2S2O8: CuSO4 is 1:1. Potassium chloride being added into oxidation solution decreases iodine transfer from a film bulk into solution.
