Summary: The effect of water-soluble polymers on the stability and dispersity of carbon active tablets suspensions has been studied It was established that such polymeric binders as poly(vinyl alcohol), carboxymethyl cellulose, methyl cellulose do not increase carbon active suspension stability. At the same time carbon tablets suspensions containing new water-soluble cellulose derivative have heightened aggregative and sedimentation stability. This accounts for by the appearance of hydrophilic properties of the carbon particles surface. This hydrophilization is the result of cellulose derivative absorption on this surface. The particles of initial carbon and traditional tablets do not possess hydrophilic properties.

Modeling of nonstationary phase of tap water ultrafiltration. pp. 23--29
Summary: The work is devoted to analysis of the tap water ultrafiltration with nonstionary initial phase of filtration. For the nonstationary initial period explanation a model of ultrafiltration process based on the tortuosity scale approach was developed. Model data are correlated well with those experimental data for the dead-end and cross-flow ultrafiltration. The modeling results show that the ultrafiltration flux can be increased by means of initial ultrafiltration period minimization throught (a) total solid water concentration reduction, for instance, with pre-filtration help; (b) average particle size increasing in water, for example by coagulation or floculation.

Molecular sorption of prodimin by monocarboxylcellulose from binary solutions water -- organic nonelectrolyte. pp. 44--49
Summary: Sorption of an anticancer drug prodimin with a carboxylic cation exchanger in H+ form -- monocarboxylcellulose [MCC(H+)] from five binary solutions of water-organical nonelectrolytes (NE) over all range of molecular fraction (N2) of the NE has been studied at 293۫ K. Unlike of other anticancer drugs the isotherms lgKd - N2 (Kd is the distribution coefficient of prodimin) are passing to a maximum at N2 » 0.5 in all binary systems. The nature of this phenomenon has been considered with account of microscopically demixture of the binary systems. An opinion is expressed that on the basis of prodimin and MCC(H+) a macromolecular therapeutic system may be created.

The influence of the amount of Zn ions absorbed of on physical-mechanical properties of oxidized cellulose filaments are inverstigated.
Summary: 3,7,7-trimethyl-4-acetoxymethyl-1,3,5-cycloheptatriene has been established to be the main product of 4-aceto-xymethyl-3-carene and per-acids interaction. The reaction scheme including epoxyde formation, its isomerization into allyl alcohol followed by dehydration and tautomeric change has been proposed.
Summary: Theoretical study of the central crest of the HIV-1 principal neutralizing determinant, N-terminal tetrapeptide of the virus immunodominant epitope, is carded out. To this end, the NMR-based theoretical conformational analysis of this stretch is performed for four different virus isolates (HIVMN HIVRF, HIVThailand and HIVHaiti). The following major conclusion is made by the comparison of the simulated tetrapeptide structures with the X-ray data for homologous protein fragments: this biologically important site of the HIV-1 protein gpl20 forms a mixture of two conformers which have the geometric parameters characterictic for conformations of b-bend and inverse g-turn.

The development of approaches to synthesis of fluorothiosugars. pp. 65--69
Summary: The opening of epoxy-cycle in methyl 5-0-trityl-2,2-epoxy-a,b-D-lyxofuranosides 1a,b has been studied. The course of opening on the configuration of methoxy-group. In the case of b -anomer 1b desired thiocyanates 4 and 2b obtained with moderate yield. Contrary above, starting from epoxide 1a disulfide 6 was isolated as sole product. Using potassium thiocyanate instead ammonium led to the isolation unstable 2a with very low yield. The subsequent treatment of 2b by diethylaminosulfotrifluoride in benzene afforded fluoro-derivative 5. In analogius conditions from 6 disulfide 7 having 2-double bond was formed. The structures of the compounds synthesized were confirmed by IR-, 1H- 13C-NMR-spectroscopy data and by elemental analysis.

High-effective test-system for the total antioxidant activity detection of human blood serum. pp. 75--82
Summary: The optimization of the test-system "H2O-methemalbumin(MetHa)-ortho-phenylenediamine(PDA)-sodium(2,3-dihydroxy-4,6-di-tert.butyl-phenyl)-S-thiosulfate (InH1)" for total antioxidant activity (TAA) detection of human blood serum (HBS) has been carried out. The calibrate dependencies are the straight lines in l/v0 -- [InH1]0 and l/v0 -- [HBS]0 coordinates, where v0 is the initial rate of inhibited oxidation of PDA by hydrogen peroxide. The human blood serum concentration (HBS, mg/ml), equivalent to 1 µg/ml of the antioxidant InH1 in inhibition activity on peroxide oxidation of PDA was used as the quantitative characteristic of TAA. The TAA indexes of blood sera of 5 groups of patients with different pathologies, differing for various groups and patients in each of them were determined at 37 °C in buffered physiological solution, pH 7.4, containing 2% of DMSO. The low antioxidant status of HBS was shown for the infaret patients, cardiopatients after reanimation and patients with gastropathology.
