The materials of the International Scientific Conference (Minsk, November 9--11, 1999) organized by V.F.Kuprevich Institute of Experimental Botany of NAS of Belarus and the Belarusian Society of Plant Physiologists, in which scientists from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Lithuania, Latvia took part, are devoted to discussion of urgent problems of the creation of theoretical bases for regulation of plants growth, evolution and productivity. On molecular, cell, organism and cenotic levels the topics of substantiating the ways of maximal use of potential opportunities vegetative organism in formation agriculturally valuable part of a crop, increase of stability to the adverse factors of environment, having the important scientific and practical importance, are considered.
