The book contains the abstracts of the scientific contributions to be presented at VIIIth International Conference on Spectroscopy and Chemistry of Porphyrins and Their Analogs (Minsk, Belarus, September 22--26, 1998).
This Conference follows the series of conferences on porphyrins, as important class of biologically active compounds, held in the former Soviet Union and the CIS (Dyushanbe-1977, Ivanovo-1979, 1988; Samarkand-1982, 1991; Erevan-1984, St.-Petersburg-1995). The peculiarity of these conferences was that the scientific direction of the institution organizing the conference was performed predominantly in its progress. Now the Institute of Molecular and Atomic Physics of the NAS of Belarus is the orginizer, and this imposes the spectroscopic character on the subject matter of the Conference. The Conference is supported also by Department of Physics, Mathematics and Informatics of the NAS of Belarus, State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, Belarusian Republican Foundation for Basic Research, Belarusian Physical Society, Belarusian Photobiological and Biophysical Society.
The list of authors of the abstracts includes scientists from 19 countries: Australia, Belarus, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Switherland, The Netherlands, UK, Ukraine, USA.
