Preface
Appearance of every new journal puts forward two main questions. The first question, it its appearance real necessity or accidental event? The second one, is will this Journal find its scope and readers and will it promote progress in the field that It Is supposed to cover on? Answering the first question, we would like to stress that though the number of journals accepting papers on different aspects of nonlinear science is large enough, those having interdisciplinary character, allowing you to obtain full range of Information, to obtain a global viewpoint on different aspects of application of general mathematical methods to concrete problems in different fields, to evaluate the recent state of art in nonlinear science, could be enumerate by hand. Moreover, as for the situation with those publishing in the countries of the former Soviet Union, where the traditions in these research fields are well known and worldwide appreciated. It should be emphasized that presently there is no regular International Journal at all. Of course, to start journal publication at an empty place is an unsolvable task, and as one foundation of this endeavour is the existence of scientific activity in the field of nonlinear science in Belarus, where, based on common Organizing Committee, two Conferences take place every year, namely the Annual Seminar "Nonlinear Phenomena in Complex Systems" and Workshop "Mind, Brain & Neurocomputers". The publication of the Proceeding of these conference led to the appearance often volumes of "Advances in Synergetic", a series of books, and to the understanding of the necessity of a more regular and comprehensive publishing structure, that transformed to the Journal the first issue of which you hold in your hand, dear reader. Answering the second question is your task, dear colleague, you and only you will estimate and decide the future of the journal. Finding it interesting, useful and stimulating for your further research you'll give it a chance to survive. If its scope and content will be interesting only to the authors of submitted papers by themselves, the journal will simply die as any annoying & useless activity. Our, as Co-Editors-in-Chief and Editorial Board, only goal is to do all necessary for the first alternative's realization.
