The Honored Worker of Science and Engineering of BSSR, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of BSSR, Member of USSR Union of Writers, Aleksandr Stepanovich Vecher (1905-1985) is the Soviet biochemist of plants, one of the founders of the Belarusian school of the biochemists of plants and technical biochemistry. His basic scientific works are devoted to study of chemical nature, properties and structure of plants plastids, biochemistry of plastichinons, proteins and nucleic acids. Under A.S. Vecher's management, in Belarus were successfully advanced research on biochemistry of fruit and berry winemaking, physiology and biochemistry of a potatoes.

In the brochure, the sketches of memoirs of his colleagues, schoolboys and relatives are placed. In them there is reflected the scientific, scientific-organizational, literary and public activities of the scientist and poet. Ten his poems published in the collections "Day's Circle" and "Address to Word" are also placed. Besides the basic dates of life, titles of dissertations and surname of his schoolboys are listed.

The book is addressed to physiologists and biochemists of plants, experts of adjacent areas, and also for everyone, who is interested in history of science.
