The Music Dictionary prepared in The Institute of Study of Arts, Ethnography and Folklore of NAS of Belarus, is the first attempt in Belarus of summarizing and systematizing the information about different areas of musical culture and art in the Belarusian and Russian languages, developing and ordering the modern musical terminology. It consists of the terms, definition and word collocation (presented in articles of various character - from the reviews up to a brief information only) with the explanation of each of them, determining their genesis, ethymology and spelling in the Belarusian and Russian languages. Some terms are supplied with musical examples, explanatory schemes and references to musical compositions, that approaches the dictionary to the manual. The dictionary is aimed to the composers, musicologists, performers, translators, tutors, learners, and a wide circle of music amateurs.
