Chernobyl Digest has been published since 1991 by the Department of Scientific Information and Informatics, the Institute of Genetics and Cytology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus as an official publication of the UNESCO Chernobyl Ecological Science Network (since 1992). In 1992-1998, UNESCO organised some meetings in Belarus where scientists from different countries noted the absence of enough information concerning the results of investigations obtained by scientists from Belarus, Russia and the Ukraine. Chernobyl Digest has filled up this information gap, collecting information from a number of periodical branch departmental editions, separate brochures and books. The electronic analogue of the bulletin is CHEDIBASE which includes much more information useful for experts in catastrophology, medicine, psychology, etc.
