The Honorary Members of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus are elected from amongst the citizens of the Republic of Belarus bringing in the large contribution to development of national economy, culture and higher education of Belarus. As Foreign Members of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus are elected the foreign scientists who have brought in the large contribution to a world science. The candidates to the Honorary and Foreign Membership of the Academy are nominated by General Meetings of the Departments and are elected by General Meeting of the Academy.
The Honorary and Foreign Members of the Academy have the right to participate in all-Academy scientific and scientific-organizational measures, to participate in work of the General Meeting of the Academy and General Meetings of its Departments with the right of a consultative vote.
