The Academy Activities
The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus has the rights of juridical person and carries out its activities accordingly to the legislation of the Republic of Belarus and its own Statute. The main directions of the NASB current activities are:
- Determination of priority directions, the organization, development and coordination of the fundamental scientific research in the Republic of Belarus;
- Study and scientific elaboration of actual problems of economic, social, political and state-legal development of the Republic of Belarus, its culture, language, history, nature and environmental conditions;
- Realization of fundamental research in major directions of natural, engineering, social sciences, humanities and arts with the purpose to increase the scientific and technical, intellectual and spiritual potential of the Republic of Belarus;
- Discovering the essentially new ways of scientific and technical progress, participation in development of priorities of scientific and technical activities of the Republic of Belarus, realization of applied research in modern science-technological directions, elaboration of the recommendations on use of scientific achievements in practice;
- Realization of scientific expertise of the major scientific, technical and economic programs, and innovation projects;
- Organization, development of international scientific and technical cooperation; analysis, generalization and assistance to practical use of world science achievements;
- Training the highly skilled specialists by means of postdoctoral and postgraduate studies; improvement of professional level of the scientists by training in scientific organizations and leading educational institutions, including those abroad.
Some directions of the Academy activities can be regulated by its international agreements if they do not contradict the legislation of the Republic.

Scientific Lectureships
The Academy presents to the President of the Republic of Belarus, the National Meeting of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministers of the Republic of Belarus the Annual Report on its activities. The Ministers of the Republic of Belarus and the Academy present every year to the President of the Republic of Belarus the Report on Conditions and Prospects of Science Development in the Republic of Belarus.
